Overview
An exciting, challenging opportunity has arisen for a Continuous Improvement / Business Excellence Technician to join a profitable manufacturer based in Caerphilly, South Wales. You can expect to achieve a salary of circa £36,000, working Monday-Friday office-based hours.
The Role
Reporting into the Quality Manager, you will be required to drive operational standards through a reduction of NOCs and improvement projects within the manufacturing areas, using Voice of the Customer feedback and the DMAIC approach to problem solving. You will also be responsible for driving the site to increase continuous improvement performance against targets.
Duties:
- Support management team to improve site performance through a structured CI approach using six sigma tools to problem solve critical areas of the business.
- Provide appropriate analysis in all areas of the business in the order of Safety, Quality and productivity matters to internal users and external customers on best practice techniques.
- Supporting and developing Lean principles within Manufacturing and to be able to apply continuous improvement to improve process performance and reduce waste.
- Work with teams in coaching and driving development of effective resolution to product/service defects using 7 Step methodology.
- Deliver substantial savings and added value to the business to beat budget.
- Focusing on driving opportunities for improvement both within the operation and along the end to end value stream.
- Promote, establish and embed the principles and tools of continuous improvement.
- Sharing, challenging and developing best practice.
- Assist in the education and coaching of selected individuals to Green Belt status
- Assist in the education of all employees to achieve Yellow Belt Status

The Person
We are seeking a disciplined leader who is respected and has a good working knowledge of their operational area. The individual must be used to working within the boundaries of analysis, statistics and project management and should also be skilled in change management.
- Have a detailed and working knowledge of the DMAIC / PDCA approach
- An understanding of the use of Quality tools and change management is required.
- Knowledge and experience of LEAN and Six Sigma methodologies ideally to black belt level, minimum requirement green belt level.
- Experience of project management.
- A good educational background as well as a good understanding of MS Excel, Word, Powerpoint, access and Minitab.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of implementation Statistical Process Control.
